The Gold Rush Invitational

The Gold Rush Invitational is our Men’s Member Guest Tournament. Held each June, it is our largest event of the year. Each year a committee forms to organize the golf and the social events associated with the event. The 72 team field is broken down into twelve six-team flights. Within each flight, each team plays five nine hole matches, from the white tees, one against each of the other teams in the flight. Points are awarded for winning a hole and winning the match.

Upon conclusion of the final match on Saturday, the field gathers for the ‘Gold Rush”. The "Gold Rush" is a separate tournament all by itself. The event has been so popular over the years; the entire tournament was named after it. It is probably one of the most exciting, yet chaotic, golf events you will ever participate in. Each two-man team is combined with another team to form a four-man team. Each team selects an order with player number one hitting the tee shot, player two the second, player three the third and so on. The entire field tees off #10 together in a four-man alternate shot format. Each team scoring par or better on the tenth hole advances to the eleventh hole where the low eight teams advance to the sixteenth hole. Ties are broken by chip offs. The low four teams proceed to the seventeenth with the final two teams playing the eighteenth hole for the gold coins that are awarded to the champions.

The social events start with a stag party on the driving range and putting contest on Wednesday evening. There is a couple’s cocktail party at our Aquatic Center on Thursday evening and a Ladies Luncheon on Friday. The event concludes with a Gala Awards Dinner Dance on Saturday evening.
