As our flagship tennis event, the Tennis Pro-am is the highlight of the year for all of our tennis players at the club. We have held this event for 30 years and have raised nearly $900,000 for worthy local charities. Each year our members play with some of the best professionals in the south for a weekend of great tennis. Over the last three years we have benefitted the local charity, Bert's Big Adventure. This organization is headed up Q100 morning DJ Bert Weiss; his charity takes children with terminal and chronic illnesses to Disney World with their families. This is a trip of a lifetime for these families that have to deal with daily hospital and doctor visits on any normal day. We have been able to meet and talk with these families and it is very moving to see what this trip offers them as a family...time together without stresses of daily life! We are going to continue this tradition in 2009 and we are also going to Metro Atlanta Recovery Residences (MARR). This is a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that is recognized on a national level. We feel confident that these worthy charities can continue to help people in need with the funds we will raise for them. This is a must if you enjoy playing tennis...or just come out to watch if you like to cheer on your friends.
